ABOUT FORT COOPER CHAPTER, NSDAR

FORT COOPER CHAPTER FOUNDING
 
The Fort Cooper Chapter, NSDAR, was chartered on April 21, 2007 and serves Citrus and neighboring counties. Citrus County is located on "Florida's Nature Coast," 70 miles north of Tampa and 60 miles northwest of Orlando. Citrus County is known for its beautiful waterways, crystal clear springs and gentle manatees.

The first Fort Cooper Chapter NSDAR officers, 2008

We have grown our membership from the 77 Charter Members in 2007 to over 175 current members. We have several third and fourth generation members of which we are proud. The Chapter has won awards and recognition at both the State and National Levels.
The DAR is a non-profit, non political, volunteer women’s service organization dedicated to promoting patriotism, historic preservation, preserving American history, securing America’s future through better education, and honoring the patriots of the Revolutionary War.

MEMBERSHIP

Eligibility for Membership:
Any woman 18 years or older, regardless of race, religion, or ethnic background, who can prove lineal descent from a patriot of the American Revolution is eligible for membership.
